The
exhibition "cross female"
– metaphors of the female in the art of the 90s assembles more
than 30 heterogeneous artistic strategies and positions which
discuss the interconnectedness of art, advertizing, lifestyle
and new media with regard to the production of images of femaleness.
The performativeness of femininity, the coincidence of representation
and production in various social discourses of the ‘90’s are
all at the center of the artistic works. |

"Cross
female" questions – in a discussion with the current
representations of femaleness – the somewhat euphorically
celebrated dissolving of the boundaries between the sexes, the
talk of a post-gender world, in which the logic of gender identities
constructed in a binary way has come to an end.

The
exhibition thus enters into the cross-gender debate, which is
currently not only being led in the field of gender studies,
but also to great extent in the context of new bio- and communication
technology. |

The
digital, virtual world of the internet offers its services,

of disembodiment and liberation are projected. In these fantasies
the user can change fluidly |
